Louis Comfort Tiffany at the Metropolitan Museum
Best known for his achievements in glass, especially his vibrantly coloured windows and lamps, Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) also excelled in mosaics, enamels, metalwork, ceramics and jewellery. All of these media are represented in this book's photographs of works in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The author presents Tiffany's works in the context of his career, which included designing jewellery for Tiffany & Co, founded by his father. She discusses his artistic themes and devotion to nature, and also his technical virtuosity, which encompassed his invention of iridescent Favrile glass. The photographs and text are accompanied by many of Tiffany's drawings.
